About the Ride: What Riders See & SayIt was absolutely incredible. Well organized and a delight. The most fun I've had on two wheels in 20 years! I completed the 35 mile portion of the ride on Sept 12th and I must say it was one of the GREATEST experiences of my life. My dad and I had a great time. Perfect weather, exercise, touring NYC neighborhoods....awesome! We had a great time we had at the NYC Century Ride. It exceeded our hopes by a huge margin and will most definitely become an annual event for us -- I was actually sad that it seemed so short! This was the first time I've done the NYC Century (100 miles) and it was awesome. I got to see all of New York -- the tall buildings, the bridges, the varied architecture, the different neighborhoods, the people and all at a speed where you can soak it in. You could never see this by car. It was fabulous. I can't wait to do it again next year. It was a first class bike tour. I just did my first TA NYC Century, and it was marvelous. The route was expertly designed to show off New York at its best. Although I'm a lifelong New Yorker, I saw large parts of the City for the first time. Helpful volunteers were posted at key spots in the road and at the rest stops. Even the signs posted on the bridges were clever and encouraging. The parks were great, and the Velodrome was a kick. It was also fun to go past Flushing H.S., my alma mater and the Unisphere where I sold gyroscopes in 1964, and ice cream in 1965. Ah, the memories. The New York Century was absolutely fantastic. This was my 9th consecutive and they just get better. The small changes in the course were quite enjoyable. Best time of year as well. Looking forward already to 2005. I love doing the century ride. It was great!! Easy to follow, great directions, great food at the rest stops, friendly volunteers, & the ending was great!! The DJ was great -- I even stayed just to listen to some good tunes. |
